While it is not everyday that a former NFL football player falls victim to a workplace accident on a construction site, accidents such as the one described above happen to average Americans nearly every day in the U.S. At any given construction site across the country, the leadership and management teams must ensure that the work is done in accordance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies and procedures. However, when compliance with those regulations or policies take a back seat to getting a job done quickly, accidents can occur. Unfortunately, those accidents can cause serious injury or even death.
It is incumbent upon safe construction companies to ensure that the employees performing construction work are safe from this type of workplace negligence. Employers owe a duty to their employees and third party contractors to ensure safety regulations and policies are followed at the every level of the organization. If those companies breach their duty owed to their employees, liability may fall to the company for any injuries that an employee sustains due to unsafe working conditions.
