U.S. Vows To Discontinue Flying Osprey Aircraft Worldwide

by | Dec 8, 2023 | Aviation Accident

The United States announced on Thursday, December 7, 2023, that all branches of the U.S. military would discontinue flying any MV-22 aircraft, commonly known as the Osprey, until the safety of the aircraft can be confirmed. The announcement was made just days after a fatal Osprey crash off the coast of Japan on November 29, the last of several mishaps that have caused increased concern about the airworthiness of the aircraft. The Osprey is operated by the Marine Corps, Navy and Air Force and has been the subject of fierce scrutiny since 19 Marines were killed in an infamous Osprey crash in Marana Arizona on April 8, 2000.
