Recreational Boating Accident Seneca Lake, NY – 1 Dead, 4 Injured

| Jul 12, 2021 | Maritime Law, Wrongful Death

There was a deadly boating accident on Seneca Lake, New York on July 10, 2021.  According to reports, a high-performance 45-foot was traveling at a high-rate of a speed when it made a turn.  All six people on board were ejected from the boat.  One passenger, Cynthia Stuck, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.  The five others on board were taken to a local hospital for treatment.  It is unclear if the accident was the result of driver error or there was a malfunction of equipment on the boat.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this incident.

A recreational boating accident can be the result of many factors, including: human error, weather conditions, equipment failure, poor maintenance practices, waves caused by other vessels, or a lack of equipment.  An incident can often be a result of a combination of the above factors.  Ultimately though, many of these incidents are preventable.
