Offshore Supply Vessel Strikes Gas Platform

by | Sep 4, 2021 | Maritime Law

There was a collision between the offshore supply vessel AMPI and an offshore gas platform on September 1, 2021.  According to reports, the ship struck the gas platform B phase 12, in the Pars Gas Field.  It is unknown if any crew members were injured during the collision.  The ship sustained significant damage.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  There was an accident on the container ship EVER LIFTING on August 29, 2021.  There was a tragic vessel collision in the Savannah River in Georgia on August 29, 2021.  During Hurricane Ida, Noble failed to evacuate crew members from the Noble Globetrotter II.  There was an explosion on the bulk carrier ZILOS on August 31, 2021.

Safe maritime companies must perform regular maintenance and inspections in order to ensure the safety of their crew members.  When ship operators fail to conduct regular maintenance and inspection of the equipment on their vessels, dangerous incidents can result.  This not only puts the lives of hardworking seamen at risk, but can also endanger members of the public.
