There was a deadly boating accident in Lake Six, Minnesota on June 22, 2023.  According to reports, a camper from North Central Camp Cherith in Frazee, Minnesota was killed.  The minor fell off an innertube on the lake, and was then struck by a boat operated by a camp counselor.  The minor was pronounced dead at the scene.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to those impacted by this tragic incident.

There have been a number of recent incidents involving vessels.  A vessel sank in the Corpus Christi Ship Channel on June 9, 2023.  A tour boat capsized in Lockport, New York on June 12, 2023.  There was an oil discharge from a barge in the tow of a Kirby Inland Marine vessel on the Mississippi River near Natchez, Mississippi on June 10, 2023.  A submersible touring the Titanic went missing on June 18, 2023.

It can be dangerous to work in any industry when safety considerations are not taken seriously.  Safe offshore vessel owners and operators must ensure that their ships do not put the lives of hard working men and women at risk.  Safe companies must be proactive and take preventative measures, including regular maintenance and repairs, to also ensure that the environment is not impacted.
