Deadly Boating Accident in Cape May, New Jersey

There was a deadly boating accident in Cape May, New Jersey on August 9, 2023.  According to reports, a 17-foot recreational boat was operating in Cape May Harbor with two people on board.  The vessel was struck by a dredge pipe that broke free from its mooring.  The two boaters were ejected as a result of the collision.  One of the occupants was able to climb back on board, but the second one was unable to do so.  His body was later recovered.  The victim has been identified as Christopher Heitman.
